Jay Whipple with Phil Nicoletti in the new Racer X Film

Posted on Apr 27, 2010

Jay Whipple has been working with a lot of top notch guys in the 2010 Supercross Series and his latest man just earned himself a ride on the Factory FMF/KTM team for the remaining supercross rounds. Congratulations to Jay Whipple and Phil Nicoletti. You can view the video here: http://www.racerxonline.com/video/Phil-Nicoletti-supercross-04-27-10.aspx

J. Whipple’s 2010 Update!

Posted on Feb 03, 2010

Pacific Northwest’s J.Whipple is having a great year so far, his students Ryan Villipoto and Josh Hill are tearing up the supercross tracks in 2010. Ryan Villipoto hired longtime friend and trainer (J.Whipple) to start working for him at the second supercross of the year. “I got the call at the Phoenix Supercross saying he needed help. We took off 1.5 seconds from the first timed practice to the second. From there he got second that night and we have been working together since.”

Also since being hired by R.V I was hired by the Hart and Huntington team last week to come out and work with there guys in Las Vegas. I worked with Chris Blose and Matt Boni. They both did an awesome job. Unfortunalety Boni had a crash and did not race this weekend but Blose had his best heat finish yet with a 4th place. Starting this week I will be flying to California to work with my new lites rider Phillip Nicoletti and R.V. for the San Diego and A3 rounds.

It’s been awhile!

Posted on Jan 19, 2010

Well it’s been awhile since our last posting busy through the holidays and all that…

We went down to Utah for Thanksgiving with our good friends Lance, Brenda and Mike Stretch. They have been busy building their dream home on 20 acres in the mountains by Park City. As you can see by the pictures the most important part of any homestead was completed well ahead of the house being a kick ass track built by Brandon Thomas. The property rests at 8000 feet so breathing and jetting was a bit different but didn’t seem to slow us down too much.

Lance and Brenda are huge supporters of BRT and their son Mike is a Team BRT Junior rider this year with his sights set firmly on going to Tennessee for the Loretta Lynn Nationals. We as a team also have access to their track as a private training compound for BRT. We have plans to be down there as much as possible once the snow melts.Lance and Mike are in Phoenix this week training with Brandon Thomas and trying out their 2010 Honda setup for them by our own Matt of MRP.

Other happenings…we have been racing at Oakwood quite a bit this winter. This track as been a great resource added to the area. With the first 2 weekends of every month set aside for Saturday practice and Sunday racing with training on Tuesday with Jay Whipple and Brandon Thomas and open practice on Wednesday we are able to get quite a bit of riding during the rainy season. We have enjoyed having Mike Stretch up to race with us along with Jessie Wharton, Chris Walsh, Matt Mortenson, Matt Holtman,  Tanner and Avrie Berry, Austin Wurster, Don and Josh McBride, and Ross Johnson has been around as well.

Austin Wurster suffered major injury to both feet at Oakwood while doing a triple and his bike went into positive neutral. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers while he has ongoing surgery and an extensive recovery and rehabilitation.

Tanner Berry is out on injury as well right now, but seems to be healing up quickly.

Ross Johnson has been racing locally a bit sweeping the classes at Pasco and Wenatchee. Also zipping back and forth to Europe and doing quite well in the European SX series ongoing over there.

Ryan Skinner has been training hard in California at the SX Academy. He had his debut SX ride at Phoenix which ended in a crash when he had some carburetor problems. But he is ok and going onto A2 with good spirits and determination.

Cody Geller has been ripping the track up here locally and in Wenatchee at the Bad Boys of Arena Cross stop in the INT. Class. He is on a blue 250 2-stoke and it seems to fit him quite nicely. Don’t blink when he goes by or you might just miss him. Pulling down 1st and 2nd Place he is making all of us very proud.

The Wharton family spent their holidays in So Cal training with Jay Whipple with their sights set firmly on Tennessee.

The Campbell family has been racing non stop across the NW. Shay has been picking up speed and experience, thanks to Eric Waunch and his Dad’s size 10 boot. But seriously Shay has been putting in some hard yards and it is really starting to show.

Collin Baker and Wyatt Baker have been riding a lot and advancing well in their races. Collin made his pass and made it stick to take a 3rd Place trophy. Wyatt has been coming alive as well pulling some hole shots and wins.

Follow the team on Facebook.

Hope to see you all at the track safe and sound. T

BRT is very excited about several new developments over the past few weeks.

Jessie Wharton along with her brother Mason and father Curt will be riding for Team BRT. This a very dedicated and talented family. We are very proud to add them to our roster.

We are excited to be helping out Ross Johnson for the West Coast Lites in 2010. He will be sporting some of our new hard parts we have developed.  We have been watching this exceptional rider over the last few years and congratulate him on being picked up for European SX tour this winter.

CP Pistons has offered us a team sponsorship for 2010 season, another exciting partnership for us.

We just got home from the US Open down in Las Vegas and had a great time hanging out with J. Whipple and his wife, Shannon. Chris Aldredge raced the 85 Invitational and took 1st place. He was the first rider in practice to clear the SX finish double, this was the highlight of our trip.

Posted on Sep 19, 2009
Top Gun 2009 was a soggy one again this year. Still a lot of fun was had by all. Team BRT/AES took 2nd in the Tug o War and 10th out of 60 teams. Being awarded a nice trophy from the Pacific Racing Organization.

Loretta’s Happenings

Posted on Aug 15, 2009

Well the boys are almost home from Tennessee we had mixed results and walked away with a determination to train harder for next time.

Cody Geller got a nice 20th overall in the 450c class. His last moto Saturday he collapsed after the race and to be given to bags of IV to rehydrate.

Shon got 14th on 1 race in the 250A class but a 38th overall. He ended up in the hospital after pulling off the track and passing out from heat exhaustion and then got sick on top of that and never did snap back.

We had tornado warnings come through camp one night and had different warnings to evacuate and then a little later to just hunker down.  A whole lot of lightning with wind and rain but thankfully the tornado passed north of us. This was a bit different for a bunch of Washington boys… other than the rain!

Josh McBride brought his bike down with us in hopes of getting bumped up from an alternate position, this unfortunately didn’t happen for him but he hung out with his Dad an rooted all the locals on.

Joey Ruminer of AES racing also rode out of our trailer. Joey pulled down a 14th overall in the 250A class and 16th overall in the 250 A Pro Sport !  Joey showed tremendous heart and will power. His 1st moto of the week he also collapsed at the end and the medics rushed him down to the river to bring his core temperature down.

As you can tell the climate is brutal down there. We felt we had trained hard and we were ready but next time we need to triple everything we were doing.  It is definitely the Amateur race of a lifetime and anybody who makes it there are already tough customers and in for some of the best racing they will ever see.

Well it’s been non stop training and testing for most of the month. The time has almost arrived to pull the BRT race machine out of the driveway and down the road to Tennessee. Trailer is prepped and ready to rock. Along with the BRT bikes we are bringing Joey Ruminer from Team AES down and Josh McBrides bike. Should be some fun going on in the pits!

We shot a cool new video with DTM Wed July 22nd with a focus on our Trainer Jay Whipple at local private track. Very fast bunch of boys showed up during filming: Ross Johnson, Lamay, Tyler Hansen, Wardius, Tanner Berry and others along with Team BRT and made it a great day.  This should come out right before Loretta’s and will be posted on DTM and this site.

DTM will be doing daily phone interviews with the boys from Tennessee to get a feel for the racing and the atmosphere at night with all the cool non-racing events going on.

Shon and Cody have been working very hard getting their conditioning to peak performance and all of us are very proud of their efforts. They have that look in their eyes glad I’m not on the line with either one of them.

Jamie has moved up to a “BIG” bike and is loving her brothers 08 250 Thanks Cody!  Which in turn has moved her beloved Honda 150 to Shay Campbell to use in the Super Mini Class-he hasn’t stopped grinning for 2 weeks!

Wyatt has got anew piston in his bike and swears he is riding a 450 but if you know Wyatt you know his stories….He is busy getting ready for the next Hi-Point race at Washougal coming up on Aug 9th along with his Dad.

And lastly plans are proceeding very well for Top Gun most of the positions are filled—but we are looking for 1 or 2 intermediate riders who like to go fast and have fun doing it. If you are interested drop us a line.

Latest Race Updates

Posted on Jul 08, 2009

We have a couple of race updates here as we have been doing a lot of racing lately!

July 2nd: Cody and Shon trained with Jay Whipple at Riverdale and Wyatt, Brian Geller, and Tony worked hard on the track as well. Then everyone loaded up and left to run down to Portland for Thursday Night Motocross. Everyone did well and had a good night with the exception of Shon who had a mishap on the finish line table pretzeling a bike and coming away with a nasty headache.

July 3rd:  We left PIR early and shot up to Washougal for a full day of practice getting ready for the weekend hi-point series. We pitted and camped with team AES having a great time with the Money family, Jake Anstett, and the Howells.

July 4th: Today was Tony and Lori’s anniversary so congratulations to them! We also had a great day of racing in the heat, so Loretta’s here we come! The night was awesome and Washougal had a band and fireworks with Brian Barnes stepping up to the mike and laying it down.

July 5th: Today brought more great racing with Shon feeling better and hitting the track. Cody Geller had some great rides as well.

This week the guys are training with Jay at Burnt Ridge Thursday and Riverdale on Sunday. Shon and Geller are hitting the gym hardcore while Matt is healing up and getting Shon’s and Cody’s bikes ready for Tennessee. Shon will be sporting #14 and Geller #34.

Breaking News!

Posted on Jul 01, 2009
Last weekend at Portland International Raceways for the Pacific Racing Organization series, our intermediate rider Matt Mortenson was injured from a big get off in practice Saturday morning. He has a lacerated liver but is stable in the hospital. He has to stay until at least Wednesday and will not be released to ride for at least 6 months. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

On a better note, team riders Shon Wilson and Cody Geller are training hard and preparing to leave for Loretta Lynn’s on July 25th. We are also taking pro rider Joey Ruminer from AES and the bikes of Josh McBride. Check back later this week for results from all of our riders last weekend at PIR. This weekend we are heading to Washougal for their series. Wish us luck!
